He's a programmer in Seattle, apparently, just like lots of people I know. More importantly, his work is related to video games, which makes for an even thinner slice of people, and one I'm more familiar with than I have any right to be.

This is a nice thing to come home to after work. I'd all but forgotten about this. :)

i think i saw him getting a refund at the tonga academy of dance. i am also quite sure the dancers in atlanta,ga.were bused in from athens,ga.home of the b52's. in fact i'm sure that was the "b52 dancers" rehearsing for a sold out show at the fabulous fox theater downtown atl. i wonder if matt got to go on stage with the band......my god who sponsored this film? the b52's? probably. peace and love,garnet

Wow, now that's a lot of money that could have been put to more productive use in the world.

In that vein, I couldn't help but think of all the carbon emissions from the travel. But I have to face that some of that is motivated by envy.

WHAT? Uh, like what? I think that anyone that sees this video will become aware of the fact that we're all connected and that we're all on the same planet and that a surprising number of us like to dance as opposed to killing each other. I think it'll be seen by millions and have a much more far-reaching effect in terms of world unity that giving all that airfare to a local charity.

I don't know if you'll agree but that's what I think, anyway. I don't see it as useless is all I'm sayin'.

Actually, it's a surprisingly small amount. If you buy a large number of flights at once (like he did) and travel as cheaply as humanly possible (like he did), you can manage the sort of enormous trip like he did for much less than you'd expect.

I believe the ballpark figure for his first, longer trip was around $30K; this one was likely cheaper. For the amount of travel he packed into it, not bad at all.

That's pretty awesome.

I have to admit that seeing Vancouver in there as if it's a great exotic locale is just freaking weird.
