odd, that

There was a man at the bus-stop this morning with a pet speckled pigeon standing on his hat, tied to his shirt by a string. He was perfectly ordinary, apart from the pigeon, so I didn't say anything, though I wondered if I should.

Yeah I saw him the other day. When *I* saw him, though, there were long streaks of pigeon poo down his shirt. I found that a little unusual. Nice looking pigeon, though. I asked him if it was a dove or something because of the colouring but he said that it was just an unusual breed of pigeon. He said that it landed on him and it never left and he just sort of went with it. Fair enough, I say.

That's even more bizarre. I assumed, regarding the guano, that that's what the hat was for, to keep it off of him.

Yeah. It was late in the afternoon, though, and the streaks were on his back. Maybe the hat didn't get everything during the day. I assume the hat works most of the time. He didn't strike me as a particularly dirty guy. Some days are better than others, I guess.

"Excuse me, sir - are you aware that a pigeon has anchored itself to you?"

What immediately struck me was the joke about the guy who goes to the doctor with a duck on his head.

A guy with a duck on his head walks into a Dr.'s office. The Doc says, "Can I help you?"

"Yeah," says the duck. "Get this guy off my ass."

Back when I used to find myself sitting in a bar, talking to friendly strangers, one of the friendliest was this guy with a mouse in his shirt pocket. He never mentioned it, but it would occasionally peek out and beg for a peanut.

Another time the drunk next to me who asked "do you want to see something cool?" turned out to be the Amazing Jonathan. That was an interesting evening.

People were always really thrilled to see me sneak a ferret on the bus. They would give me secret smiles, as if we were in on something together.

Who's the Amazing Johnathan?

Oh honey - never ask that in a bar.

Not a who. A what. Sometimes it's happy to see you.

Until you pour a glass of Jack on the rocks over it. Then happy - not so much.

My Canadian naivete strikes again. And here I thought he might be a magician who did card tricks.

Sorry about the delay... he's a magician, obviously.

Seen him around recently. Odd is a very accurate comment, I'd say.
