Also, I met James finally yesterday, before he headed back up to Wellington. Good Japanese food, photography, a random taiko drum performance, pleasant drinks in the sun, and lots of talking about game design and the like.

Good! That makes me really happy. I love James, he's family forever as far as I'm concerned. I hope you two had a great time!

I did, despite recovering from illness, and he seemed to be enjoying himself. I didn't realise he'd been to Japan before, but the place I took him to was the kind of restaurant that other Japanese people eat at (it promises "cheap but yummy" food and delivers on that promise), so I think that was a good start. That and taiko group busking around 20 metres from where we arranged to meet, just as we got there.

The world being what it is, it turns out he also knows another friend of mine up in Wellington. I think I shall have to head up and pay that city a visit at some stage.
