everything I accomplish is your fault

sanfran leap

This year marked the first time I've ever revisited every place I've called home: Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, L.A., and San Francisco. A perfect ten.

In each place was a moment waiting for me, as if from the last time I had been there. A moment of realization, of change.
A moment of sublime connection, of time curling back, of traveling forward, of evolution and social magnetism.

In a strange way, it was like following a low key route of the person I used to be. Nothing was a surprise, except for how much it meant to me.

Thank you for everyone who helped me survive this year, for everyone who was there for me.

I can never thank you enough.

I used to get almost three meters, now I only get two. Can we say Out Of Shape? Hells yes, sir, we can, with every ounce of faded muscle in my body. Yowch.

I'm glad you were in my 2008. Thank you.
And thank you for the breakfast burrito, too.

Thank you for braving Seattle's completely bonkers bus system. They've got some wacky ideas about busses there. And thank you for waiting out on the street for me at whatever hour of the morning that was. Something hideous, I'm sure, as I was with Joseph. I'm glad we finally got to meet. I'm still thrilled.

I've seen worse buses than Seattle's - Auckland, for example, is atrocious.
One of these days I shall have to visit Canada, I think.

I love this. You make one of my favorite paintings look faded and subdued next to the real thing. Thanks for bringing so many bits of fresh and surprising beauty into my world. Wishing you ecstasy in the year to come.

I did leaps at every beach I was at. There's now a small collection of them, but thi is my favourite of the ones I have.

Thank you for being such a shiny part of my life, too, even from so far away. I'm still listening to the mix-tape you posted today. (I had a bit of utter glee to see The Billy Nayer Show on there, by the way. It's bubbling comfort to see my influence out in the world.)

That shot is fucking awesome. The leap too. Do I spy signs of previous attempts in the sand? ; )

Well, you've got to warm up if you're going to leap with any reasonable form. Otherwise, ech.

My fridge magnets say "stop staring at my breasts" and "the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well".

One of my fridge magnets is two young boys in Happy Days style 40s-50s clean cut sweaters with the typewriter font saying:
"I think I'm a lesbian."

The "stop staring at my breasts" is also text on top of a fifties image. A woman in a tight knit sweater stretching oh so dainty on the edge of a desk while (presumably) her boss looks on. Very pulp cover.

to (k)no(w) you....though we have never met

you are

porphyre

circa now

prophetic circo

sacred noesis, within thee

high jump assured, universal safety net

you read it right, the orrery

free and flying

falling, in love

with the world

whirled

words

burns

burrs

and

blurs

birds

let go

and fly

gorgeous

in your sky

in versions

known in smoke

mirrors reflection

obscuria as wry sigh

cosmos flowers in your gordian not whole

boutonnière of boding, anomie of the very best kind

you....lawless....unlimited....imaginary

nice to see you.

I am currently sitting in Portage Bay eating loaded pancakes with Robin. Made both think of you. Perhaps I'll take him to visit the Wall of Death before we leave.

Leap. Always leap. The uncertainty of landing rarely costs more than the regrets of those ever remaining earthbound, as Anais Nin might say.

Happy New Year, m'dear.
